Election Engagement Resources

To encourage college student election engagement, Illinois Campus Compact and Campus Election Engagement Project (CEEP) offered mini grants to select campuses for the Fall 2018 election season.

At our Voter Engagement Networking Event, ILCC had several organizations meet with higher education staff to explain their voter engagement resources.

We joined BallotReady, State Matters, and CEEP for a webinar on Campus Voter Engagement. You can watch the recording here.

BallotReady offers online voter guides. These are easy to use guides that show every issue and candidate that will be on your ballot. All the voter has to do is enter their address. The voter can then select candidates and issues they would like to vote for and print this. This gives voters confidence when going to the polls.

Another organization that works to make future voters more confident when going to the polls is State Matters. This new, Illinois based organization, helps voters learn about Illinois Government. They do this by creating and developing professional videos. Topics include how to contact your representatives and questions like, what is a witness slip.

State Matters and BallotReady are also teaming up to throw parties! One their site, these parties are explained as “Ballot Parties are a place for you, your friends, and your neighbors to come together and learn about the issues facing your communities and the candidates that are up for election.  Researching your ballot is frustrating and time-consuming. So whether it is in an office, park, bar, or someone’s living room, we want to make preparing to vote a fun and stress-free experience.”

Campus Election Engagement Project (CEEP) is another organization helping specifically  higher education institutions get These resources include nonpartisan candidate and issue guides that can be downloaded from their site. Schools can also adapt these voter guides to fit their needs. Along with voter guides, CEEP also helps builds capacity for Get Out the Vote and voter registration. CEEP also offers fellowships for students to lead voter engagement initiatives on select campuses.
