Introducing Five New Members of the Board of Directors

Illinois Campus Compact is pleased to announce the appointment of five new members to our board: Michael AmiridisDavid BakerTroy Hammond, Howard Rosing, and Camille Williamson. Each will be a vital asset as the board continues to guide ILCC’s programming. Our shared vision of a higher education system that prepares students to be mindful civic actors will be bolstered by their experience and insights.

We also want to thank Jack Thomas, Jay Braatz, Ray Crossman and Tom Ramage as they transition off of our board. Their contributions to ILCC and its member institutions have made lasting impact.

Michael Amiridis is the chancellor of the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has initiated ongoing engagement with community, civic, corporate and elected officials to discuss how UIC’s strengths and resources are beneficial to Chicago and the state. UIC’s standing as a leader of the sustainability movement in higher education was further enhanced when Amiridis announced four climate commitments that address the challenges of climate change and sustainability on campus. He also serves on the boards of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, the Coalition of Urban Serving Universities, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce… Full Bio

David Baker is the Executive Director of America’s Urban Campus, which seeks to improve the lives of all citizens of Chicago by drawing on the collective strengths of its institutions of higher education. Since 2001 he worked to create the University Technology Park at IIT of which he served as founding Executive Director from 2006 to 2016.  Mr. Baker also served as President of The Illinois Coalition, whose mission is to strengthen the Illinois economy through science and technology… Full Bio

Troy Hammond ILCC

Troy Hammond is the President of North Central College. Hammond graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in mathematics from Milligan College and received a second B.S. degree, in physics, from Georgia Tech. He is a National Science Foundation Fellow, and received his doctorate in experimental atomic physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to joining North Central College, Hammond was president of BlueStar Energy Services in Chicago, a provider of energy efficiency services for commercial and industrial customers… Full Bio

Howard Rosing is the Executive Director of the Steans Center at DePaul University. He is a faculty member in Community Service Studies and affiliate faculty member in Geography, Sustainable Urban Development (MASUD) and Community Psychology and co-directs MASUD. Dr. Rosing is a cultural anthropologist whose research focuses on urban food access, economic restructuring, community food systems, and food justice movements in Chicago and the Dominican Republic. He is currently completing a citywide study of community garden yields in partnership with Neighborspace, Chicago’s land trust for community gardens… Full Bio

Camille Williamson is a Chicago native and a graduate of the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration. Through-out her career she has worked in various neighborhoods on the south and west side of Chicago in the areas of Education, Community Health, Community Development, Advocacy and Community Organizing. As an LCSW, Camille has utilized her education, training, and professional experience to highlight social injustice and to promote progressive change for human equity through experiential education, advocacy, and action… Full Bio
